Richard Socarides is Chief Communications Officer at GLG, where he oversees global communications, media, and policy. He also leads GLG’s Social Impact programming, which delivers the power of GLG’s platform to nonprofits, foundations, and social entrepreneurs.
Previously, he held a number of senior communications roles at Time Warner, New Line Cinema, and AOL. He also served as White House Special Assistant and Senior Advisor to President Bill Clinton, and worked on Capitol Hill as Special Assistant to U.S. Senator Tom Harkin. A lawyer by training, he was a partner at the New York City law firm Squadron, Ellenoff earlier in his career. Richard is also a writer and regular contributor to The New Yorker and a frequent commentator on television. Richard is a Trustee of the State University of New York. He is a longtime human rights and LGBT rights advocate.
